Built to face
the weather,
not to hide
from it.

On a dune lot facing the Atlantic, the house is stacked in three terraces so that every room has its own edge of sky. The structure is engineered for 170-mile-an-hour wind; the materials are chosen to look better after a decade of salt than they did on the first day.

Florida shell-stone

Coquina laid in a running bond. Soft enough to be cut with a saw, dense enough to have stood on this coast for four hundred years.
